Friday Fare!

Mrs. Nurse Boy here.

Ah...Spring Break is here. Now, we will just pray for spring weather.

I have put my spring cleaning on hold. This week we will begin spring painting. I usually like to touch up the scratches and footprints once or twice a year. (Do boys walk on walls? I often find footprints in the oddest of places.) This year some of my walls have been washed a few (hundred) too many times. When we bought this house, I was also afraid of going too wild with my color scheme. You see, I was NOT in love with this house when we bought it (which is about a week's worth of posts, so I will spare you the story). I decided that we should keep most everything neutral. Well, the reality of our staying here longer than we anticipated has finally crept into my brain. So, HELLO COLOR!

I will keep you posted and maybe even share some pictures of Sweet Pea's room when I have it completed. Because you all need to celebrate the simple fact that I can finally decorate a room that does not revolve around a theme of sports or cars. HELLO PINK! I have been longing to paint you on my walls!

Now, before you think the boys are getting the shaft, you will be happy to know that their room is getting rearranged and painted, as well. It will be a very exciting shade of tan with navy blue trim. Yes, I am trying to find a color that will match the hand prints and footprints on their walls. Do you blame me?

So, what's for dinner, you ask? After all, it is Friday Fare and I haven't even gotten to the topic of dinner.

Parsley Parmesan Chicken

1/4 C. Italian salad dressing (I use light)
2 lbs. chicken (I like to use breasts, but you can use fresh fryer parts)
1/2 C. Parmesan cheese
1/3 C. dry bread crumbs
2 T. parsley flakes
1/2 t. paprika
1/4 t. pepper
1/2 t. salt

Pour salad dressing in a large bowl. Add the chicken to the dressing, coating well. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours, or overnight. (You may need to turn the chicken a couple of times.) Combine Parmesan cheese and the rest of the ingredients in a shallow bowl. Roll each piece of chicken in the crumbs, then place chicken in a greased 9x13 pan or on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes, or until the thickest piece of chicken is done.

This stuff has awesome flavor and I am not lying when I say EVERYONE in my family eats this dish.

Simple. Easy. Delicious.

Off to paint...

Again, something we have in common.

When we bought our "starter house", I decided not to do much decorating. "I'll save that for our 'real' house", I would say.

Suffice to say, we are slow starters. We've now lived here 10 years. Ten l.o.n.g years surrounded by walls I did nothing to because we wouldn't be here more than five years.

Now we're talking about moving again (we do that all the time, but we're serious this time, lol). So now I'm going to HAVE to paint. Pity I didn't do it 10 years ago so I could have enjoyed it all this time.

If we hadn't had children, I think our second and third bedrooms would still be the slightly green, off-white color it was when we moved in (unfortunately, the hall is still that color).

Sounds so yummy, as usual. Your wealth of chicken recipes is amazing.

How are the Fireproof classes going? I have wondered where to get the daily activities workshop. Heaven knows I can't Google it myself.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Good luck painting
Caution, do not use matte paint. Especially if it is white. You simply can't wash it.
We are painting this weekend as well. yep the white matte paint!
Get er done, so you can be ready for the gardening season. yeah!

A few days ago, I read your NKOTB post and laughed. Even more so at the comment, there was only two. I scrolled down tonight and WOW!!! You really opened a can of whoop A@#!
LOL.
Just curious. Do you like Van Halen? David Lee Roth or Sammy Haggar?

I'm so excited for you getting to decorate with pink. I was over the moon when I was able to decorate for Peyton after having two boys. Green and pink was my choice. I loved the tan with navy blue. It my favorite for almost 4 years. Boy do I hear you about touching up the scratches and footprints. This could be a weekly thing here!

The chicken recipe sounds great. I'll have to try that next. It sounds similar to the lemon parmesan-crusted chicken w/o the lemon and adding the Italian salad dressing and paprika. Thanks. I'm always looking for something new to make that EVERYONE will eat!!

Much love from NJ,
Sue

Got any leftovers? MMM

We moved into our new and VERY neutral home in October. I'm thinking I can live with bisque for a little while longer.

I often wonder the same thing about the footprints on the walls. Sometimes, I think that if I were to set up a hidden camera, I'd find that my children have superhuman abilities. Have you ever seen a footprint on the ceiling? I have!! And no, we don't have bunkbeds.

I've never seen kids walk on the walls, but I've seen a few that drove their parents up the wall.

Your footprints are only on the walls? We have them on the ceiling (there was a third much larger boy involved in that one).

I stayed with my friend with three girls on the weekend. It was like a fairy threw up in their house... flowers, butterflies and ribbons everywhere. I have construction site stickers waiting to go on the boys walls, matchbox cars littering the floor and alien men sitting leaning against the walls... and footprints and baked beans on the ceiling. I want to hang up a butterfly!
