Monday's Random Musings

Mrs. Nurse Boy here.

Well, we survived Spring Break and we are back into our routine. I am still tired and a little bit sore from painting. I am very happy about all of the changes we made and I appreciate our house just a little bit more. I do plan to share Sweet Pea's room with you in the very near future. I am still fine tuning the overall look. Sweet Pea LOVES her "new" room and thanks us often for painting it.

So, now for some random thoughts before I get started on the endless laundry...

***Today it is VERY windy around these parts. The last time it was this windy, our neighbor's tree fell on our roof. Well, let's just say that I currently have another issue with a branch of theirs today. I plan to post more later this week. Grr....

***I gave myself a pedicure this weekend. (I know! It was about time!) Now that my toes look proper, it is officially sandal season. I LOVE sandals. I HATE socks. I wear sandals until my little toes are completely frozen and numb from the cold (well into November). Once I put my sandals away for the winter, I feel like a little part of me dies. After I give myself a pedicure and pull my sandals back out, I am alive and well! I love you, spring!

***Speaking of sandals, I think I could use a few new pairs. A girl could NEVER have too many sandals!!!

***Sweet Pea even got some Dora "flip-flips" this weekend. The only thing cuter than my feet in sandals, is Sweet Pea's stubby little feet in sandals. Even without the pedicure.

***Nurse Boy took 3 days off of work last week. Originally he had planned to be in New Orleans for the entire week on a mission's trip. He was so excited to go and serve the Lord while building homes. The date of the trip got moved and he will now be unable to go due to his class schedule. He was very disappointed, but I saw it as an opportunity to get some projects done around here. I think he would have rather been in New Orleans. But, our house does look much better. And, he will have more opportunities to go on other mission trips. I know that is a huge desire of his and God used this trip to reveal that to me.

***This weekend my Italian mother made Ricotta Pie. Doesn't that sound just awful? Well, it is delightful! Well, maybe that isn't the right word, because I am pretty sure there is nothing LIGHT about it. But, it just might be my favorite pie EVER. So, why am I telling you this? Well, my mom left the boys a piece of pie for them to spilt and eat today. I am eating that very piece right now! I am such a bad mom, but I just can't waste that piece on two boys who only seem to appreciate chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese. Nope, can't do it. It is all mine. Trust me, they will LOVE the trail mix I throw at them when they get home! Shhhh...don't tell Nurse Boy, because he won't think trail mix will be OK. He is going to be looking for the pie.

***If you don't have a good Italian cook in your life, you need to get one! Those Italians don't mess around in the kitchen. They know what they are doing! Now, I am craving the ricotta cookies my mom makes. And, to think that I once thought ricotta only belonged in pasta. How closed minded of me.

Happy Monday!

Yum! Do you know where I can get an Italian cook? Costco didn't have one or even a jumbo pack of them.

I can't wait to see Sweet Peas room, the only two regrets I have about all boys are Easter dresses and bed room decor. I'd just love to do both and none of my boys will agree tot either.

I make a chocolate cake with ricotta in it. It's the only reason people invite me over ("are you guys coming? Are you bringing 'the' cake?").

I am SO with you on sandal season. Finally whipped my feet into shape last weekend.

I also just happened to fall in love, L-O-V-E, with a pair of red, strappy, heeled sandals Saturday. I may have drooled on them a little.

Then that stupid little voice in my head said "what on earth would you wear them with?" and I put them down.

Still not over it. I hate that voice in my head. She needs to be squashed.

A part of me wants to feel sorry for my self for painting the break away, but I do love the way it looks. Thank you Mrs. for motivating me to make a better place for me to live. It sounds like I am taking credit for the work, so I want everyone to know the Mrs. did just as much work. She is a little depressed though. Most of our painting projects have been because she is expecting and she can't be around the fumes then. She has already started looking into the vassectomy reversal surgery.

Is Ricotta pie the same thing as Easter pie???? I loveeeeeeee me some Easter pie. My old boss' mother used to make it for me. It was wonderful.

Can't wait to see Sweet Pea's room. I'm sure it looks beautiful!

So funny, I do the same thing with the sandals. I'll wear them until my toes fall off. I wore flip flops for the past 3 weeks to Weight Watchers and it's been freezing. People have been giving me some weird looks.

Much love from NJ,
Sue

Sounds like you had a really busy weekend. That pie? It sounds amazing. I am very jealous and am looking for an Italian now to adopt me. My neighbor is Italian, but she just yells a lot, so that won't work.

Also, I hate socks too, but haven't yet gotten into sandals. I believe I will try them this summer and see if I fall in love.

Oh, nothing says welcome spring quite like pretty toes. Love that you gave yourself a pedicure. Super fun.

Your toes are all ready for those fun sandals now, I'm sure!

Ahh Eternal Summer. Sandals and bare feet 365 days a year! I am thinking of going and getting a proper pedi soon (I'm sure yours was great but my eternal summer feet need something pretty full on at the moment, beyond the tragic pedi I could do). A friend just told me about a really cheap place, I like cheap!

Do you reckon I could get an Italian cook on Amazon? I know a lovely Italian lady, my OB's receptionist, but she reckons she missed the gene... still dodgy italian cooking is probably better than my best offerings... I'll have to have a chat with her.

I used to hate sandals because my toes are so hairy, that they make me look like a hobbit. Then my wife reminded me that I wear steel toe boots 40 hours a week. Wouldn't it be nice to get some air to your feet? Now I wear sandals quite a bit. If you don't like my hairy toes, shut your eyes.

LMBO @ you eating their pie. I'd do it, too!!! I have before and I will again. LOL

I freeze my toes off, too. I prefer barefoot though. If I have to go to town, I'll opt for tennis shoes but the second I'm in the house, those suckers are off.

That's disappointing that the date's for hubby's mission trip got changed. :(
