Monday's Random Musings

Mrs. Nurse Boy here with nothing but randomness!

So, I fell off the bloggy train over the last 2 weeks and I have a lot of catching up to do. Two weeks ago, Nurse Boy and I left the kids with my parents and headed to a small, historical town about 1 1/2 hours away. We booked two nights in an Old Victorian Bed and Breakfast and signed up for a 2 day marriage conference. We enjoyed each other, spent a lot of time discussing all of our new insight into our marriage, and took in the sights of the town.

So, may I present to you some randomness from our weekend of bliss...

~~Old Victorian homes are beautiful, breathtaking, and rather creaky.

~~No little people entering your bedroom at the ridiculous hour of 6 AM is fabulous. (And, NO, I do not consider that morning. That, my friends, is still nighttime.)

~~A 10 AM breakfast is GLORIOUS!

~~A hot breakfast made by someone else in THEIR kitchen-- Words cannot describe!

~~If you walk through an antique shop with uneven floors and everything rattles, does that mean you're fat? (This one is Nurse Boy's.)

~~Is it a bad sign if your heater and defrost only work in your van when you are going over 40 miles per hour?

~~Why does that stuff only happen when you are away from home?

~~Going on a trip with a color blind person during the fall is slightly annoying when he has to ask if the leaves are changing colors.

~~For the record, the leaves are GORGEOUS this year. Not that Nurse Boy would know.

~~Look what we came home to:

~~Yeah, the kids convinced Bubby and Papa (my parents) that they MUST experience a banana split. I guess they have never had one before. Since Bubby and Papa were certain that our children must not be robbed of such an experience, they bought bananas and every other topping known to man. We came home to them making their own banana splits. They were VERY generous with their sticky, runny toppings.

~~In MY kitchen.

~~Welcome home!

~~That night I snuggled with Sweet Pea and asked her if she missed me. She very matter-a-factly looked into my eyes and said,"Nope."

~~I don't think "factly" is a word, but I am still going to use it.

~~The boys didn't miss us either.

~~Do you want to know a little secret? We didn't miss them. I know that sounds awful, but Nurse Boy and I really needed a break and they were in VERY capable, loving hands.

~~Eating banana splits.

~~But, we were all happy to be back together. Plus, we are all recharged to take on this thing we do together called life.

~~And, we honestly love our life!

Happy Monday!!!

So glad you all had great times over the weekend. I think it is great to get away for a short time. Everyone needs that time away. I am sad for your husband that can't tell if the leaves are changing...it is my favorite time of the year:)

I remember that first time that I "didn't miss" Daniel and I started to feel guilty and beat myself up until I remembered that he didn't usually miss me when he was at the sitter's or someone else's house, which is a good thing, actually. :-)
I've never been a big fan of banana splits though my DH LOVES them!
So glad you are back doing your Monday random-mess! LOL ((HUGS))
OHHHHH, I ALMOST FORGOT!!
Can you believe that Christopher is still on PR!?!?! I mean, what is going on?! I can't recall the guy's name who DID get the axe but I felt like he should still be there. AND I wasn't at all crazy about Johnny's outfit but then he's the cute one of the bunch, I guess, but are his legs ever bowed or what?!?!?! LOL So, that is my take! :-)

And a sweet, beautiful life it is!

Time away, just you and the one you love = AMAZING.

About the antique store. I have this fear of walking on anything wooden and creaky. I just know it's going to splinter under me and the headline over my picture will read...Well Duh! What the...was she thinking???

How nice, and how lucky are you to have a getaway!

I laughed to read the bit "...you know what? We didn't miss them either".

So refreshing to read some honesty about parenting rather than all the gooey stuff around the blogs, like "My child wakes me up sixteen times every hour through the night and insists that I sleep beside them so they can pull my hair out and stick their cold feet in my armpits, but it's so sweet that I wouldn't have it any other way {because if I said I didn't like it I would sound like a bad mother.}"

There's nothing like getting away with your spouse for the weekend unless you are a young-un and you are with grandparents that feed you bananna splits. Sounds like the best of both worlds.

What a fantastic weekend-I truly am envious!
(Except for the creeky floors of a B/B-been there, and tramatized!)

I am laughing at that last line of the comment above - she's a hoot!

So glad you guys got some time away!

And didn't you know it's cruel and unusual punishment to deprive your kids of the joy of banana splits?!?! (We even had them at our wedding reception, ha ha). Sure looks like they were having a great time making memories.

And you can be sure they really missed you guys :)

Sounds like you had a great, much-needed break. We all need breaks once in a while ;o)

And I agree the children should not have been deprived of such luxuries as a banana split for all these years. Hurry - you must make up for lost time and have another one today!

I think the fact that they were in loving. capable hands has something to do with the "miss you" factor...

Little people at 6 am? I've got a big, beardy people at 6 am! That's what time Jack gets up to leave for work! LOL

I've been behind on the blogginess as well, but not for such a wonderful reason as you. I'm jealous of your getaway, it sounds fabulous. I'm with you 6 am is SO not morning. And meals always taste better when someone else fixes it for you. ;)
