Things That Make Me Smile

Mrs. Nurse Boy here.

I pretty much dislike shopping with my kids.  They usually find some cheap toy or sticky candy to obsess over the entire time I wrestle the shopping cart through the isles.  They have a tendency to beg for needless items while I am just trying to make sure my cart has enough ingredients for our weekly meals.

But, there is one place I love to take the kids shopping... and, I even prefer them to beg and obsess over things while we are there...

The Bookstore!

I love watching the boys get excited over books.  It is almost impossible for me to utter the word "no" while their eyes light up and their lips pucker up with a long, whiny "Pleasssseeeeee?"

Plus, we also enjoy some profoundly academic moments when we discover some quality literature such as this:

Yep, we are some deep thinkers around here!

I love going to the bookstore. My niece Rose would swear she couldn't find ANYTHING to read at the bookstore. We would just shake our heads. Such a shame. I love it when kids love to read!!!

Oh my goodness!! That book is hilarious!

I absolutely LOVE that kids like books. Buster would be in heaven in a bookstore.

Normally, I'm the one to obsess over the cheap toy or sticky candy (my wife just can't take me anywhere).

It's funny, I was at my grandson's school's open house/bookfair tonight and he came out with three books in tow. You've got to love it when kids have a passion for reading.

That makes me smile too. I love to see my kids all reading. It warms my heart. They are quiet and doing something good for their bodies.
Funny book.

Take me to a book store, and give me a chair to sit in, and I'll come out when they close. I'll, also, come out quite a bit poorer!

You lot are all class!

Lion has just started to realise that he can sound words out himself and ACTUALLY READ short sentences. He is reading everything he gets his hands on. I am searching our bookshelves for our simplest books for him to tackle. I often have worried what we'd do if one of our kids didn't like reading, we are a reading family!
