Our Family's Bitter/Sweet Life

I Smelled Spring

And, it smelled sweet!

Last Thursday, Sweet Pea and I headed to the zoo with a few of our favorite peeps.  The weather was BEAUTIFUL!

That was a week ago.  Today?  Not beautiful.  Nope.  Quite ugly, in fact.  The forecast boasts of freezing rain, sleet, and snow.  I have already been pelted in the head with freezing rain this morning, so I don't think the weather people are blowing smoke this go around.

To top it off, Sweet Pea is on day 2 of a fever.  She is, of course, following all of the rules of Murphy's Law in her attempt to make life challenging.  (Isn't that a 4 year old's job?)  When she awoke feeling like a hot potato fresh out of the oven, we didn't have any medicine in the house. Of course.  (She made sure to tell the clerk at the store that she was sick and running a fever.  I got the stink eye from the clerk.  I'm pretty sure I'll never be allowed in that store again.)  I was also scheduled to start filling in for a preschool teacher who is on maternity leave.  Today was supposed to be my first day.  Of course.  And, it ain't looking good for tomorrow, either.  Sweet Pea is feeling worse today.  She hasn't had a fever all year.  I hate Murphy's Law.

However, I just have to share pictures from our beautiful day out last week.  We spent the day with my dear friend, Suzanne and her adorable kids, N and L.  L and Sweet Pea are a hoot together.  As for N, he often has me wishing we could have just one more. (I said, WISHING.  Don't get excited.)

For your viewing pleasure...

Excitement is in the air!

Is it just me, or does Sweet Pea look a little scared?!  She is so cautious.

Posing on the frog slide...

How stinkin' cute is this?!  I love his smile!

I'm thinking we have the next Heidi Klum here.  What do you think?  Ha!

They are getting so big.

Taking in a little train ride.

Simply adorable!

Can you tell it was time to go?  L was having none of that.

Come on L.  It was a fun day.  We promise to come back again!

Would you like a cookie when we get to the car?

You would, huh?

Now, that's more like it!

A perfect day, indeed!

Thanks for sharing! Love the pictures I could almost feel the warm breezes.

Sorry Sweet Pea is ill. It always happens when you have something going on.

Big Hug for all of you!

Hey you! Such cute pictures. It must have been a beautiful day, with short sleeves and all!

I hope Sweet Pea starts feeling better soon!

oh my, your little Sweet Pea with her sunnies and her hair just perfectly messy and the pose... it's all too much for me, I think I need to go and play with a Tonka Truck or something.

...and that slide is a Toad. Why would you make a slide that looks like a toad? That is about the grossest thing I've seen today... you know, except for the real toad on our front lawn that must have gotten too close to the lawnmower yesterday.
