Things That Make Me Smile

Mrs. Nurse Boy here.
We FINALLY have our Christmas Tree up!
Sweet Pea has a pink one in her room, of course.
She is rather fond of it, as you can tell.
The boys have a tree in their room as well. I believe it is the ONLY place where you have a Colts poster actually out shining the Christmas Tree.
The kids "helped" Nurse Boy put up the tree. Yes, we have an artificial tree. I personally prefer artificial. I don't have to mess with it. We all know I would forget to water it and the needles would drive my OCD-self batty.
The kids love hanging up their own ornaments. They each get a dated ornament every year. We will present the ornaments to them on their first Christmas after they are married. A few years ago we started the tradition of going to Hallmark the day after Christmas. Each of the kids gets to pick out their own ornament for the year. An added bonus is I save 50%!
Sweet Pea made sure the bottom half of the tree was decorated really well.
Um... maybe a little too well. No worries. This is about the time that we send the kids off to bed and make some "minor" adjustments.
Ah... MUCH better. Turn off all of the room lights and cozy up with a cup of hot chocolate.
Now, that makes me smile.

When our kids got married off, they got to take "their" ornaments with them. It's one less thing a newly wed couple has to worry about.

I'm an artifical tree person too. I've had a real one once since I was married. That's a whole blog post in itself.

We don't get much choice here, it's artificial or some sparse straggly tree gasping for life in a climate that is not it's own. I love your treee, it's looking just BEAUTIFUL. (oh, please tell Sweet Pea I think her tree looks like it's made out of fairy-floss, YUMMY)

I love to sit in the dark with just the Christmas tree on and snuggle. So cozy and romantic. I love your tree and totally understand getting a fake one. I do too. I remembered why when we got a real one last year. NEEDLES! need I say more? I just got a smallish one this year and will get a good big one after Christmas so I can save 75%. yeah I get all my Christmas stuff after Christmas too...lol.

Your tree is lovely and I love that the kids have one too! My children used to string Christmas lights around their bedroom ceilings!

We have an artificial tree for the first time this week. I am looking forward to an easy cleanup!

We have a tree that looks much like yours, with most of the ornaments on the lower half. I haven't had the time to rearrange it though.

I loved the family involment. When they get older they have no interest in tree decorating.

The tree is beautiful!

I used to suffer from minor OCD and just had to rearrange the ornaments when the children went to bed, but now I am too lazy and let my OCD perfectionist 14 year old daughter do that bit for me.

My children also have their own set of ornaments. They usually get one from Santa in their stocking each year, but I think 'Santa' might copy your idea and buy them in the after-Christmas sales from now on.

I used to have a real live Christmas tree. It was a Norfolk pine growing in a pot, and each year for about 5 years I would bring the pot inside (checked carefully for spiders first by my dear HB) and decorate it. Because it was growing (really REAL) is didn't drop needles. Sadly it got too big and heavy to bring inside and had to be planted in the ground.

But I do prefer an artificial tree to a real, dead, one.

Love the pink tree. She's got taste. We do artificial here too! I also make some adjustments too, but Bella is usually standing right next to me teary eyed that I moved her cluster of ornaments. Next year I'll wait until she's in bed :o)
