Monday's Random Musings

Mrs. Nurse Boy here.

I took a little, unplanned bloggy break while the Nurse family (aka the in laws) came in town for a visit. I can call them that because they have two children and both of them are nurses. My sister-in-law also has the same name as me. Just a little trivia for you.

Today, I am back for some random thoughts...

***Do you ever wake up in the morning and decide that you HATE the color, cut, and style of your hair? Do you then spend countless hours searching for a picture of a new complementary 'do while ignoring your family and the house? Do you then discover that no hairdo is good enough, only to look up and discover that your family and home have been neglected for shallow reasons? No? That's just me? Huh.

***Do you ever feel like you are the ONLY one trying to keep the house clean and tidy? PLEASE don't tell me that is just me!

***Do you ever find yourself wishing that your oldest was back in diapers and potty training because, while you once thought that was the hardest part of parenting, you now know that it gets so much more difficult. (I NEVER thought I would feel that way and, for the record, I am exaggerating. But, I do miss the simplicity of those parenting days...)

***Do you ever look into your children's eyes and find yourself amazed and proud of who they have become? Yet, still anxious to see who they will be?

***Do you ever wake up in the morning and wish you could throw the alarm away and sleep for several more hours? (I think I feel that way every morning.)

***Do you ever wish you were the "Daddy," since daddys are welcomed home with a song and a dance and mommys field the "Can I have a snack?" and "When is dinner?" questions?

***Do you ever find yourself wishing you had a "life" only to discover that your calendar is too full of soccer games, play dates, and birthday parties to have one?

***Do you ever long for 10 minutes of nothing but pure silence and a Diet Coke? And, maybe, some dark chocolate?

***Do you ever read my random thoughts and wonder how I muddle through this brain of mine day in and day out?

Don't worry...my husband does too!

EDITED TO ADD: Check out my real life friend, Imperfect Mom's answers to my rhetorical questions. Go HERE for some laughs!

My answers are yes to all but the last one-I have similar random thoughts...like yours! One of mine like yours today-
Why, oh why does the rest of the family not feel the critical need to pick up??!! We will be buried if I take a day off or get sick...

Do you ever find yourself daydreaming about when your kids move out?

Do you ever think about how easy it was before you had kids, and didn't even know it?

At the same time you realize how much joy those little balls of aggrivation can bring?

I am looking forward to six weeks of break from classes. It is like a vacation, even though I will be working full time. My life was not a vacation last year when I was not going to school. Have you ever noticed how perspective changes every year you are alive?

Wow, that was a lot of questions. Although I realize many were rhetorical, I am going to answer them. Only on my blog. Because that's how I roll (and I don't want to hog all the comment space).

You are too cute! If anyone ever saw every thought in my brain I know I would be committed. Love your random thoughts.

You can have all the Life you want. It's on sale at Kroger's for 2 boxes for $5. Oh wait, that was last week. Sorry if you missed it.

Silence, FULL CREAM coke, and ABSOLUTELY dark chocolate.

Please don't tell me that there is harder stuff than taking 12 months to potty train a stubborn little toad, only to have to do it all again with the next child a couple of years later... I'm assuming I will at some point need to potty train this child too. Will it never end???

Your brain seems quite normal to me. I sometimes wonder what a transcript of my daily thoughts would read like. I find myself randomly musing all day.

I am so sure that I have wondered about all of the same things at one time or another in my 57+ years and now I am re-living some of them with my little grandson, mostly the alarm-clock-throwing-away-thingy! :-)

Wow! Matches my thoughts about, parenting, life, and myself so much right now. Probably because we are in similar stages of life, huh? Hope it helps to know you are not alone! (I know it helps here!)

Honey that's LIFE, I worry that my random thoughts will stop flowing, not that they are intelligent thoughts, and I'll have alzheimers or dementia. So keep those thoughts coming, they're perfectly normal.

I want to sleep for a few days, and wake up with my house cleaned, bills paid, laundry done ,and shopping done, so I can sit and eat that dark chocolate

Love ya

Several extra hours of sleep would be amazing. My body would be so shocked by it all that it would probably go into a coma though. I haven't gotten more than 7 1/2 hours in almost three years. Ah, parenthood.

I love it though.

The hair thing? Oh yeah. I also find myself worrying about silly things like "why don't I get more comments on my blog?" when I should be watching my child who has climbed up on the island in the kitchen. *sigh* (OK, that really didn't happen, but it could have).
