Friday Fare! & Show Us Where You Live Friday

Mrs. Nurse Boy here.

Kelly, over at Kelly's Korner, is hosting Show Us Where You Live Friday. Today, you get to tour my kitchen. It was my favorite room in our home when we purchased it 5 years ago. Probably because it was the only room that had been remodeled. I now have a love/hate relationship with my kitchen.

Come on in! One of my favorite features of this kitchen are the cabinets. They go all the way to the ceiling! Great for storage. And, yes, I do need a step stool to get to the top shelves.

Here is where you can find us most mornings and afternoons. I would love to have a round table for this area, but it just hasn't been a priority thus far.

My refrigerator says, "Giggle a Giddy Laughter." With three kids, that is the norm around here. And, next to the fridge, you will see my Kitchen Aide. Boy, do I love that thing! I just got it this year as a birthday gift from my in laws. How did I survive 12 years of marriage without that thing?!

Hey, no bikes in the kitchen!

The floor is made of wood tiles and I love them. They clean up well and are very forgiving when it comes to food, crumbs, and the random cat hair. Hey, don't look too close...that is cheating!

And, I do love this kitchen garage. It is a mess inside...I love that it hides all of our junk. I will spare you the photo of the inside.

Here is where I spend most of my days, or so it seems. The lady that owned this house before had an obsession with pink and hunter green. Together. In the same room. So, the woman remodeled her kitchen with PINK counter tops.

Yep, PINK! Oh, I am sure they are called, "MAUVE." That sounds so sophisticated, doesn't it? Well, I am NOT crazy about the color of my counter tops, but I will live with them. And, in case you didn't notice, there is some green in the flooring. It is more subtle than the pink, but it is still there.

You want to see what's for dinner? Salsa Chicken and it smells awesome! Here is what I put in my crock pot this morning: 4-6 frozen chicken breasts, 1 jar of salsa, 1 can corn (drained), and 1 can black beans (drained and rinsed). Really, that's all! Cook on low for about 6 hours.

I love this stuff with corn bread. Wait, I forgot something...

Cheese and sour cream make it taste ever better. (We won't talk about the added fat. No. We. Won't.)

Thanks for stopping by! Go over to Kelly's Korner and check out some more kitchens!

Yummy, I love corn bread. That chicken looks heavenly.

The pink counter tops crack me up! I would live with them too though, are they granite?

I love that your sink window looks out into the yard. I open the window and can see and hear my boys play on the slide and in the sandbox. When they are quietly playing I could watch them for hours, fortunately there are always enough dishes to keep me busy.

Lovely kitchen! I had to laugh about your disliked "mauve" countertops...my mom's countertops are "mauve" too...she used to love them but despises them now! :) Your kitchen is beautiful with wonderful cabinets! And dinner looks amazing!

I want a kitchen garage!! We sooo need one of them. Your kitchen is beautiful!! The tall cabinets are so nice. Wish we had them too.

We had that same square kitchen table. We just got rid of it last summer and bought a round one. It served us well for 10 years!!

Much love from NJ,

Your kitchen is so cute. We are trying to enforce a no skateboards in the kitchen rule at the moment. Being a galley kitchen it is aparently quite fun to lay on your tummy on the board and scoot through narrowly missing mummy's delicate girly ankles screaming "look my cool trick"!

The kitchen tour was fun don't ya think? It was one way to get my kitchen cleaned.Ha Love the vinyl lettering on the fridge. Oh, and your kiddos are darling.

Your kitchen is very pretty. At least, the "mauve" counter tops are a subtle shade of pink. I got married in June, 1980. We bought 10 acres with a small, older (1960 model) mobile home on it. The kitchen appliances were pink! The bathroom fixtures were pink, too! Pink wasn't even remotely popular in 1980. The best I could do (or so I thought at the time) was use creams and dark brown with it. I was young and in love, so I didn't pay much attention to it. I think you've done a wonderful job!

Be greatful for your beautiful clean kitchen. I love the feeling it brings, peace. The pictures of the children in the window sil unclutterd by dish soap and cups just amazed me. Is it this clean all the time?

I would love to have new countertop and cabinets. Not sure what ours is made of. I pray that some home makeover guy will show up with thousands of dollars and give it a make over. No, okay I'll take a new dishwasher.

I want some corn bread!

You are an awesome chicken chef. Did you try the recipe I left for you?
