Parades and Candy and Fireworks, Oh My!

We are starting our 4th of July weekend a bit early. Nurse Boy is taking a 4 day weekend. Don't you worry, it is not all fun and games around here. He has an assignment due this weekend. YES, this weekend! So, he is going to be hogging my computer over the next few days. It is time for one of us to get a laptop. That will not be happening any time soon because the economy is in the toilet and I have three children whose goal in life is to eat me out of house and home.

I hope everyone takes time to enjoy your family this weekend. Celebrate your freedom! Celebrate our awesome military! We are a blessed nation and I am so proud to call the USA my home!

We will be hitting our local parade and fireworks show.

Have I told you how much I LOVE parades?! Have I told you how much Nurse Boy HATES parades?! Guess who wins ;0) After nine years of parade going, Dimples is a PRO at scoping up the candy from the street. I know, I know. He is quite talented.

Bruiser is a fan of the candy, but still winces at the loud sounds. His talent is amazing! He can throw down Smarties like no one's business!

Sweet Pea is all about having a good time with friends and family! And, who can resist those bows?! The best $20 I've ever spent.

Oh, I kid. Nurse Boy, you can breathe now. I would never spend $20 on bows. Or, who I?

Ah, here is my man.
Yes, he is pictured here in PUBLIC.
With a t-shirt that says, "FRUITCAKE."
That was a gift from my mother a few Christmases ago. She thought the laugh was on him. She was wrong. Since he loves to wear this when he is out in public, I would say that the laugh is on me. Add the hat and the flag shorts and you would think he was 65 years old. I guess he is comfortable in his own skin, wouldn't you say?

I would say that you should pray for me.

I hope everyone has an awesome and blessed 4th of July weekend!!!!!!

I think the shirt is funny. Im not sure what I think of the flag shorts. But that is the worst Hat ever. Now that Sweet Pea has those bows I think the next $20 should be spent on a new Hat for Nurse Boy.

He looks like Indiana Jones and the temple of mowing the lawn in black socks.....

Wonderful! You have your hands full and I'm assuming that Fruitcake might be the most trouble for you ;o) Have a great Fourth fo July weekend. What an awesome day for us to celebrate - and all that it entails. We live in the best country, hands down.

Call me wierd, but I love the shirt and the hat. More power to him for wearing both in public.

Love the fruitcake shirt! How funny!!! My boys are eating us out of house and home right now too. Can you imagine how much your kids are going to eat when they are teenagers? I think that's when I'll have to go back to work just so we can pay for groceries. And, oh didn't you hear . . . the economy isn't in the toilet anymore. Apparently, the stimulus was sucessful! ;-p

At least he doesn't have that sunblock stuff across his nose or duck tape on his glasses, I'd say he's doing pretty darn good.

(I'm saying this because he's not my husband. Were he my husband I might be having a bit of a fit over it all. But, since he's all yours...it's funny. :-)

I declare Nurse Boy and Sir Nottaguy-Imadad really must be brothers! The outfit!! I'm sure that Sir would do that same type of outfit (the only change would be the shorts would be pants) in public if he thought he could get one good giggle out of someone!

Have a great 4th!

Um, what's wrong with the hat? It's *almost* an akubra (google it if you're wondering). The shirt, it's fine too. Wolf was upset when I found shirts saying "grumpy old man" for cheap but they were only in grumpy old man sizes so we had to buy one for the other grumpy old man in my life- my dad! It's those shorts I worry about... now being patriotic is fine but what if you get a hungry bum and the stars and stripes get stuck in your crack? I don't think that makes anyone proud now does it? I will concede that they may be acceptable as beach wear if they are boardies, boardies are always a little bit bordering on the odd side but if they are shorts-shorts then no, they must be retired.

Mummy,
They are in fact boardies, so it is ok right? We weren't at the beach, or planing on engaging in any water fun. Are they still ok? By the way, my bum does not get hungry, so you can get that visual out of your head.

Nurse Boy,
I gave you two out of three, according to some, that aint bad... can't you just be happy? Plain boardies are fine for every day wear... Flag boardies are exclusive beach attire... along with the ones that have huge words printed across the butt, each leg a different (clashing) colour, or boardies with strange prints all over them like surfboards or mini-coopers.

Everyones bum gets hungry sometimes. You sit down, all relaxed in your camp chair, as you stand it starts to gobble your shorts and you end up with a cut lunch that you have to remove with none of your other parade gawkers seeing? no, not familiar?

Um... Where are you? What were you wearing? Inquiring minds wanna know!

Forever more I will remember July 4th as Hungry Bum Flag Shorts at the Parade Day.

Thanks for the laugh! Mummy, Mr. and Mrs. It almost makes up for the Forth of July Barf-O-Rama we're dealing with.

Mummy,
You have made my hungry bum nauseous. So it gagged my flag boardies out without the need for the hidden pick.

Boy Mom,
It sound like my bum is not the only thing gagging. If it is multicolored vommit it is almost like fireworks.

NB

Mother M,
We were at our church fireworks show last week. It was early because the pyro guys had paying gigs this weekend. By the way, my boardies behaved the whole time.
