Sweet Summer Memories

Mrs. Nurse Boy here.

Ah, yes. Summertime.

Nice, warm sun.

Lots of free time with my kiddos.

The smell of sunscreen.

Melting ice cream cones.

Refreshing rain showers.

Bicycle rides.

Trips to the park.

Water gun fights.

Endless hours on the swing set.

Lightening bugs.

Numerous trips to the pool.

But, there is one thing about summer that I will never get used to. Like the times when we are minding our own business at the neighborhood pool and, suddenly...

Chaos ensues...

Whistles are blown...

Moms are quickly scooping their children out of the baby pool...

Some are even darting out the exit...

Lifeguards are directing moms and babes to lawn chairs...

Everyone looks disgusted...

Lifeguards are slowly searching...looking...scanning...for a fresh nugget (and, we are NOT talking chicken, people!)

Nope. Not my favorite memory of summer. And, for the record, it wasn't my child. This time anyway...

Ha! Ha! Reminds me of Ground Hog Day...That's the only part I remember from that movie :o)

The brownies I LOVE!!! They can't compare to Betty Crocker (at least in my book). I use the regular recipe and I have to cook at high altitude (good ole' 5280 ft in Denver) and I do bake it about 10 minutes longer than stated. I'm not sure if other people will have to since they aren't floating above the sea as high as we are. Let me know if you like them. I get requests for them all the time!

Ugh. :P Public pools are so gross.

First: Eeww. Second: Eewwww. Third: Ewww, ewww, ewww, (o.k. that was third, fourth and fifth, lol!)

I don't think I've had the "pleasure" of this experience but I'll bet my son is glad he's not a lifeguard!

I have never seen a lightening bug but I'll bet it would be cool!

Yes, I was spying on you at McDonald's. So sorry...hehehe!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH.

At first I thought you were talking about lightning storms. Gurg. That's awful. LOL. I'm so glad to say I can't relate, but it does happen often enough. Last year we were going to venture a trip to a local waterpark, we were wise enough to call first because they casually informed us they were closed due to a similar poopy incident. We were spared.

I loved your setup though. :)

You can get the same reaction at the pool with a bite size Baby Ruth candy bar. Or so I hear. (whistles to himself softly)

Kee hee!

Ahhhh, the comforting feeling of knowing that this one time, it wasn't your own child.

Um, sorry 'bout that. Oh, hang on, it couldn't have been my child either since we are on opposite sides of the world! That's a relief.

Yuck! Double yuck! We don't do public pools so thankfully we've not had this wondrous experience! :-0
BUT I do like the other summer experiences you mentioned!! :-)

Okay - had to laugh... there must be some comment conversation that I am missing the other half to - because that first comment? Your post is about a little nugget in the water. Then the comment is about a brownie recipe.

Yes, juvenile things crack me up. Sorry :)

OK. Kari went from poop in the pool to brownies. Disturbing? Why, yes it was. :-)

Anyhooo.... I have yet to have this happen, but may never swim again should it happen.
