Show Us Where You Live Friday! (Plus a Midnight Snack)

Mrs. Nurse Boy here.

Well, it is time for Show Us Where You Live Friday over at kellyskornerblog.com. This week we are touring Master Bedrooms.

If you have ever bought a house, you surely remember the hunt for the perfect house. Then, you realized that there isn't a "perfect" house. At least, not in your price range. Or, is that just me?

When we bought this house, we were looking for a larger, more family friendly house. We had two kids and were planning on one more. We wanted a playroom and spacious bedrooms for the kids (since they would likely be sharing down the road). We also wanted a family room where we could entertain family and friends and host Bible Studies. Our priority was our kids, our family, and our friends.

So, we had to sacrifice somewhere.

It was the master bedroom and bathroom that would suffer. As a matter of a fact...wait for it...we don't have a master bath. GASP! Trust me, I wish we did. Once Nurse Boy is a Nurse Practitioner, that is a HUGE priority around here! I DO NOT plan to share a bathroom with 2 teenage boys.

No. Thank. You.

But, come on into our humble bedroom...

It is cozy.

It is actually a room that I love to come to and relax.

Can you tell I am a fan of neutral colors?

I am obsessed with comforters and I get a new one almost every year. I love this one (so far).

The good thing about a small room is the simple fact that there isn't any room for clutter!

These are the his and her closets. Small and pathetic, I know! But, we make it work.

I also highly recommend stashing (and using!) a couples devotional in your room. We feel so much closer to one another when we commit to doing these nightly! Nightlight by the Dobsons is another one I recommend.
OK, so now I need to be completely honest. Sometimes this room is used...

by Sweet Pea to try on mommy's shoes.
All. Of. Them.
When mommy isn't looking.
And, sometimes I throw the clean laundry on the bed for the laundry fairy to come and fold. However, this is what often happens.

Did you know that you could play hide-n-seek in the midst of clean clothes? Don't answer that.

Yeah, it really helps out with the wrinkles.

Sometimes Nurse Boy even searches for a midnight snack to bring into the bedroom. How about some Peanut Butter Cereal Bars?

Just take 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup light corn syrup, and 1 cup of sugar and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and mix in 4 cups of cheerios and 2 cups of rice cereal. Press into a 13x9 pan. Let cool and sneak them into bed late at night.

Whatever you do, don't let the kids see you.

Thanks for stopping by!

I love that you can go in your room and feel relaxed. Some people have so much clutter in their rooms that they just can't relax. Good for you!

I'm a fan of neutral colours, too. We get along well.

How often do you have to water that plant behind your bed?

I love your bedroom and the way you've angled the bed. Our master is pretty small but my husband still manages to stack the clutter all along the walls. He's beyond help. Maybe I should sneak in some peanut butter cereal bars to comfort myself with. ;)

I need that laundry fairy over here. Stat! (I always wanted to say that! From the first time I watched ER!)

And awesome bedroom. I'm not usually a fan of neutral colors, but it really works in your room.

And you have a TV in your room! I can't have one or I'd never go to bed.

I love how your walls are brown or white. To cool! Love the room colors.

It looks very calm and restful and I like it.

I'll send my hubby over for your yearly picture. Try not to expect to much, lol!

You mean like an Army nurse? No... but maybe I should be. Army me are my favorite men! (and Ft. Knox is right down the road).

Hey, I am a fan of neutral colors as well.
Does all white count or is that a pathetic plea to the fingerprint faries?

I am amazed again that your bed is made before you throw the laundry on it. You are the best.

Love ya

P.S. pink isn't neutral. ;)

I work nights in the ICU. It's technically a general ICU but we're pretty neuro-intensive. While I still think it would be fantastic to be independently wealthy, if I gotta work, I do enjoy my job.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love your bedroom. The comforter is beautiful! And, I LOVE his and her closets! In our old house, my closet was in our room, and my husband used the closet in the guest room! HEHE! Love the photo of your daughter in your shoes. Really cute post!

I've added M & Ms and peanuts to the peanut butter bars. It's dreamy!

So I think you blogged about my house-haha. We have a small master bedroom and no master bath either. How unfair. Two closets that each fit about 5 shirts and 2 pairs of pants each. I love neutral and earth tone colors and I buy bedding at least twice a year. My excuse (and I actually do it) is I change bedding with the seasons. I love your room. Love the colors. And your right - the small rooms don't allow for clutter - except the clothes on the bed and the kids you find underneath them :o)

Oh I wish for a pretty, neat bedroom like that! I might even be tempted to give up the ensuite ... ok, not really. But HB is such a stasher and stacker that I would be embarrassed to post photos of our bedroom.

I have never seen the peaunt butter bars with cheerios. I will have to try it. I make mine with all rice krispies and add one bag of each chocolate and butterscotch morsles (melted together and poured on top). Thanks for sharing your room and recipe

I love your bedroom! I would love an ensuite too. We have a doorway from our bedroom to the bathroom but I absolutely don't count that as being anything like an ensuite. It just freaks out the visitors because unlike the main bathroom door it's a sliding wardrobe type door and it doesnt lock so random children find their way through our bedroom into the bathroom while you are showering. So, wanna come stay with us?

We do have a pretty big walk in robe though, about the size of my parents ensuite:) It's just one more place to hide Christmas presents and then forget where you put them... I mean other people might do that... nope, not me... not forget them for 12 months and then slip them in for next christmas... not in this house!
